It's crazy how people in old times used to stay connected to each other via handwritten letters. They lived up to the promises they made to each other which were not even verbal. They used to do gruesome traveling for days to come and visit their loved ones and be a part of their celebrations. And now even with communication & transportation made so much easier, people who were once close knit are almost strangers to one another.
Those friends who were once a part of your circle are now scattered in various parts of the world busy in their own work so much so that now they don't get time to talk to you. It clearly isn't their fault that they are not available when you need them because they have a life to live. But, it's truly heartbreaking that you don't find common topics to talk upon with your once upon a time soulmates when you actually get a chance to talk to each other. During the conversation you keep remembering bits and pieces of moments that you have spent together playing games in the school ground, making fun of people you mutually hated, talking and whispering when teachers had their attention elsewhere, eating from the lunch box in the middle of the class, playing pranks on fellow students, talking about crushes, singing at the top of your voices uncaring of whose listening in a very public place and what not, but something just stops you from being that comfortable in each others’ presence anymore. You know that you want to keep those innocent promises that you once made, but somehow new promises and responsibilities make them hazy. New people keep coming and going from your life and everyday you become part of a new story, As the days and years pass by you automatically get distanced from the picture you and your childhood friends made.
Whatever may be the reason of the obvious distance between you and your friends and in spite of all the efforts that could be made and IS NOT made to bridge that gap, you know in your π that they were the real gems of your life. You can count on them anytime. Maybe You won't get to feel that strong and pure connection ever again in your life. All you have to do to reconnect with each other is to FEEL those moments which have the power to bring a smile to your face still.
Friends are the family we choose. Everything that can be done to keep our family in a string together should be done. We should live every moment of the Friendship and make memories out of it so that even if one day we grow apart geographically these memories will keep our hearts bound together and will always have an upper hand over the communication gap & hesitance created by various situations in this one truly amazing relationship!
